The Upraised Fist
false skin
false reality
underneath; blood flows
red and rich.
a scarred body
full of bullet holes
the rubber bullets
were coated with lead
activism was dead
a power hungry
monarch
an arch criminal;
the henchman
and you
the lone tree hugger
standing alone in front of the digger
arms outstretched

Analogy and Feathers
Kangaroos flew into the mind in billowing cloaks liened with regard into the flaming pew stickers in the renaissance of the decaprio saga. The giselle bunchens and other assorted lingerie models not withstanding the gossip of the amazonian pshycopaths, the egyptian druglords and american jailbirds.
but reclaiming land has always been a reconnoitering mission of serious psokage that has embittered the masses against the would be devils of the landlords. liberalist ideals have formulated the basis for the spawn of animated cartoons to disintergrate into remorseless interpretations of Sexual Man.
B ol cols trembling old a controlled attempt a ontrolled shally wally bang bang bang of dispropotionate. A metaphor released into a vacuum that was the test. an analogy released into a singular universe it ceased to exist but what is an analogy but something dependent on something else?
I am an analogy an analogy of you him them. You are an analogy an analogy of me her him. We are analogies floating on each others whim, we will not survive in vacuums.
we will not survive we are dependent i am dependent on you ? on you? it pisses me off but i am forced to admit i am dependent on you are dependent on me? it may piss you off but force to admit that you are are are depended on me. convolution be damned this is a scenario a problem of perception we must solve this.

Gangsta Rippin'
1. Aliens implanting test chip in brain.
2. Accident involving Milton's Paradise Lost and a slippery floor. book ending up embedding itself in brain as a pshychological snapshot that morphed into a life of its own.
But i actually started off my 'career' writing gangsta rap when i was fourteen. And probably owe most of my poetic brilliance slash lameness to Eminem. That boisterous white boy who showed me how to be black and proud of it biatch! I wrote:
yo!
yo yo yo!
my words are like a death toll
i make the nay saying bastards' heads roll
an apostrophy lost
my grammer is like pus
seeping through the wounds of my broken english
but i dont let it stop me i get stronger with it
yeah im a wordsmith, with a mcahine gun
i scare your pants off and i make you run
i make you scream and want to find your mum
i'll make your m**** F***in bleed from your ears son
Im a gangsta rapper
with the shock treatment unit
its me agianst the world baby
I ain got no regrets
this is a battlefield
and i slip and slide like James Bond on speed
Yeah..Uh huh..
Or Something similar..
Pretty soon, my gangsta walk and gangsta talk garnered me a lot of attention. And nick names. And there was that unfortunate incident where i was adding a bit of color to the national anthem during assembly and this guy laughed his head off and gave me away to a prefect, who then proceeded to yell at me very loudly. for a long time afterwards.
never liked them, prefects.
But not everybody was a playa hater. I had a few fellow artistes in my crew see. Although only one of them was a fellow rapper (most of the others used to sing Westlife) and him and me eventually formed this band called the Shock Treatment Unit.
A few performances on stage are also to my credit, as are a few audiences of bemused people. Although i never got a chance to actually really get down to some cold hard gangsta rap on stage. A pity.
Anyways, my gangsta rappin days are behind me, i hear you breath a sigh of relief, and an era of rhymes simply followed. Followed by a few kind people who felt my work was worthy a compliment or two. I kept writing more because of them and have found that a lot of interesting things that mostly take place in my head and would be inexplicable in plain everyday descriptive language can be expressed quite accurately in the throes of a few jumbled words.
And when i write stuff like;
A dead poem breathed new life into a vacuum with its last breathsSometimes even i can't figure out exactly what i mean.
it created pulses in the air with its dying heartbeats
the pulses became butterflies and created storms in far off places
changing many landscapes and changing many faces
the dying cries of the poem lost itself in the screaming wind
for now the storm of his heartbeats had come back to him
and he passed in peace within the matters of his own doing.
What more can a poem ask but immortality in the act of dying?

Put away those tranquilizers
So yeah March, insane month isnt it? Nibras Bawa and Passionately Patient both entered the blogosphere in March, and together with a lot of input from the usually dormant and 'proper' individuals in the sphere, created mayhem and carnage and had to be forcibly taken down and put out for their own good and the collective good of the world as decided by the powers that be, and alomost every one else.
The war raged on and progressed further than ever before, killing a lot of people and blind fighting on both sides accompanied by protests from all corners brings us to the end of April slightly out of breath and finally easing up on the bombarding. That five kilometre piece of land probably looks like a tsunami hit it just about when it was getting over a 10.5 richter earthquake or something.
"if you keep your head while everyone else is losing theirs..." or something like that. Something to the affect that you shouldnt 'lose your head in troubled times' sort of like when you're a number 4 batsman watching the middle order crumble and seeing Murali walking in with about 70 or so more runs to get in as many balls. Actually by that time you'd probably have completely given up, unless of course you were Murali himself, whose belief that his closing eyes and blindly swinging 'improvised' cricketing shot actually will get him more than a couple of fluke sixes never ceases to amaze people on the occasions where it actually works.
Its nice to see the calibre of politicians havent changed. We seem to revel in the steriotypical fat , greasy mass appealing buggers with eloquent vocabulary with nothing substantial to show for it over and over again. Fucking cunts.
Theres swine flu going on people so watch out, as Dili, who tweeted someone else's tweet said, it cant be as bad as bird flu because 'pigs cant fly'. Lol right man, at the rate things are going prety soon pigs will fly. Nothing is known of this 'semi pandemic' except it seems to target 'young adults' more than anyone else. A vaccine is due in only about six months according to the docs at WHO so stay away from Mehico hombre.. of you know what is good for you.
We seem to think SL is safe from global shocks, which explains the downright ignorance people show for global news, Most of the arrack parties and blog discussions focus on local aspects. Is that only cos there is so much more going on here and people dont really have the time to look outside or is it cos the universe is always a flexible thing and will always contract to contain only the particular area of space that you want it to. Which will explain the amount of people walking around with dazed expressions looking at the stars circling their heads a foot away.
Ok im out. Nice insanity people. Lets see what May brings.
*ok that header's off. a little too much insanity there..

The Revolt
The rabbits of the gate
Disintegrated,
Into nameless monstrous beings.
Struck with fear,
The hateful former dears,
They marched across the plains,
To kill the farmer.
Oh you sweet bunnies!
Corrupted with feeling
Sometimes irrational,
Mostly rationally insane.
A sandcastle of a dream
Plausible in a vacuum,
But helplessly weak
On the pragmatist's beach.
The hope of a lifetime
The life of a hopeful progeny
Seeking the immortality of glory
In the conquering of an immutable foe
Or supposedly so.
A fickle dream
Born on the backs of a courageous team
Go rabbits!

Beware the White Van
First, our sad excuse for a president. That great lummox of an idiot should not have been elected. Let me express my heartfelt scorn to every single person out there who voted for him. Hopefully you did not know what kind of monster you were creating. It was shameful the way he won (because of the restriction of voting in the north, where he would have lost), and it is bloody shameful the way he is running this country.
Shameful I say! Do I need to elaborate? Fine I will. Take Mervyn Silva, everybody’s favorite neighborhood thug. How many atrocities has he committed? Why is that devil-spawn still on the loose? Take corruption. It is rampant. It is open. The president’s government does not give a rat’s ass who sees what they do. They’ve scared everyone with the war. Sure they’ve made advances in that respect, but they are using it to fill up their own pockets, expecting people to put up and shut up as long as they keep kicking the asses of the Tigers.
This is crazy, and I am continuously surprised as to why we put up with this whole fiasco. This circus of a government. They are like a pack of locusts swarming around a dying animal, the dying animal being our country. And the reason it is dying is because of the activity of its people! Yes. It’s people. The politicians are not different from a country’s people. They are the upstarts who take the lead to come to the forefront to lead us and then they lead us all down the road to still more suffering, pain and deprivation of basic human rights. We voted for them (I didnt, but we did). What the fuck were we thinking?
Wait a minute. Did you just say human rights? What’s that? We are not familiar with that term. What? You have a complaint? On the violation of human rights? By a government official? Oh, by a politician, okay. But how can someone violate human rights when they don’t know what it means? Please go and register the term in the National Vocabulary Institute for recognition in Sri Lanka and please wait 6 years while they do the appropriate research to determine its exact meaning and then another 4 years while they review its appropriateness for use in this country. Then another 5 years for parliamentary review and another 2 for presidential approval. Then come back.
In the meanwhile we will continue to deploy our white vans and abduct random Joes like you for various reasons and torture you before deciding whether to kill you or let you go. We will also go onto abduct whoever we want for ransom to fund the country’s ‘war effort’ while actually channeling those monies towards various offshore bank accounts and proceed to kick out of the country any discerning organization or person who tries to stop us. Because we don’t know any better see?
Things are going at a crazy pace. To a crazy place no doubt. But I feel it’s crazy enough as it is. I wonder if this post is crazy enough to warrant a white van of my own? Now that’ll be some negative feedback.

A Brief Note on Surrealism
Surrealism is an ‘ongoing social revolution’ its advocation of imagination and free unreigned thought inspired many of the movements’ members to produce some great works of art, which has caused the term ‘surrealism’ to be mainly associated with the art world. But let us not be mistaken, surrealism is very much a socio political movement and a philosophy in itself.
It's artwork though, is quite beautiful and the Surrealist artists were a bunch who (like the movement did to existing socio political conventions) scorned commonly held beliefs and customs in the world of art. Their works represented the very essence of surrealism and is an aid to anyone attempting to understand the movement and a gateway to the cosmos of the imagination.
Here are a few (printed without permission), they are extremely erm, surreal im sure you will agree. I'l be glad to hear you thoughts on surrealism or anything else related to this post. i am still an early student of the movement and would love some input!

It’s the Sri Lankan Revolution, Ignoramus!

When governments fall they do not fall because of the opposing forces of the people but they fall because they go against the ruling classes or the bourgeoisie. It is the ruling class that generally tends to have power over the people and they then coordinate that power to stand against that government. The French revolution, Hitler’s fascist revolution, all occurred from the manipulation of the people. Therefore a force has to arise from within the people and has to take the lead to bring the people towards a new government and consequently form a new ruling class.
That’s what we need in the damn country if you ask me. A revolution! Screw the communists, the PA and the UNP we need an all new force to arise from the heart of the people. A force that is modern enough to take us away from all our archaic socio-economic policies and conditions. A movement to revitalize our minds and refresh the conscience of this nation, a movement to remove all the false biases and conventions that are embedded in our minds and all the illusions that have been cast upon the minds of the common people. A movement to release the proletariat or the working classes from the grip of alcohol and drugs and raise their level of consciousness to lift up the national economy. It’s like the Chinese said; every two hands come with a free brain attached.
But such a movement will have to arise from the grassroots level. Work will have to be done in the bottom of the social order to vitalize them into action. The government’s disease of complacency has spread to every corner of society and as things are right now, I do not think anyone is going to protest unless petrol prices go through the tallest roof in the country and food becomes a pure luxury. It is amazing how much people in this country tolerate when it comes to economics/quality of life aspects. I mean god forbid someone from a different religion has the balls to express his god given rights in your society but hey, it’s fine if the government wants to kill you really really slowly by depriving you of everything you need for your daily sustenance. It’s our government right? And that fat chap in that white ‘jathika anduma’ did give his lifelong promise to never let us down didn’t he?
I swear, some people need to get the basics right. The masses of this country seem to have been fooled so much that they have replaced sound religious, scientific and moral judgments and principles with conventions and made up traditions. A small example; apparently there is nothing that prevents people from having funerals on Tuesdays and Fridays. I was listening to a Buddhist monk talk the other day and he was saying how that particular habit developed from the 80s during the troubles with the JVP. When there were bodies everywhere, particularly floating on the rivers. The government apparently banned funerals or taking bodies away or some such thing on those days due to some reason or the other and thus started a tradition that lives to this day that lacks any sound base.
Being a Muslim, I was also Shocked (yes my shock warrants a capital‘s’) to see a few weeks ago Muslims fighting Muslims in a political rigmarole in the East and setting fire to some poor guy’s tuk tuk while they were at it. Politicians have blinded the masses and taken control of their minds and willpower by the manifestation of their own god complex and by taking advantage of their poverty, social situation and lack of knowledge.
For a people to rise up as one and make something of themselves, they have to first smarten up. We just seem to be a bunch of worker bees striving hard to just somehow make some money during the day to make ends meet and have some leftover for booze coupled with a few mind numbing joints during the weekends. We are emotionally and rationally numb to our environments and simply choose to ignore and pretend that the things we do not like do not exist.
We need a wakeup call and we can either wake up and smell the burning ashes of our homes and loved ones a few years of ignorance later, or smell the coffee (or what’s left of it after all the garbage) now.
