short haircuts futewuh!

at least for me. we all have an image we are comfortable with and nothing seems to work as well for me as crew cuts do.

conductors (the bus variety) refer to me as 'aiya' now and gone are the days when they used to rudely shove me aside and snap at me to move up the aisle.

like just the night before last i was being a real annoying bastard in the bus cos i was hogging the footboard and the conda (as he is fondly known) found his movements vastly restricted. but not a word of protest did he utter. he bore me -  the pain in his ass, patiently for a long time before respectfully asking; aiya kohenda bahinne? big brother, pray tell, where doth will you get off my bus?

so i told him.

and he most politely told me; 'waadiwenna'.  please, why don't you take a seat?

so i did.

and just last evening i was ambling down Rudra Mawatha in Wella and this three wheel brother hailed me and said;

'Aiya, podi support ekak denna puluwanda?' Big brother, how about some help here?

his back tyre had a flat and he was missing a jack. so he needed me to help him lift the tuk and hold it in the air while he changed the tyre. and no, of course im not talking about lifting the tuk bodily right off the ground, i meant raise it so its back wheel was off the ground you dufus.

so i help him out and while we're at it i question him;

didnt you have a jack?

didnt have a jack no! he says

then he says 'sorry ah, almost done'

i say 'ah shape shape no problem'

then hes done and he utters a thanks and i say ok and walk off.

Just as if i do that sort of thing everyday!

You know what else rhymes with 'everyday'? Lingerie or lawnjeray.

i need some advice, preferably from discerning young ladies, with regard to this product. why does wearing sexy underwear under drab office clothes make a woman feel more confident? its not like your clothes getting ripped off near the photocopier is an everyday occurence is it? i understand about the lift and shape factor but really, is that all there is to it?

Please, help a brother out. its for an assignment i swear.

Sexy underwear makes a woman feel sexay...therefore the confidence comes naturally =P

Women love anything that makes them feel beautiful. That's all Whacky. As for your haircut, I won't repeat myself.

I opt for the shorter cut, to make me look more aiya as opposed to uncle.. but yet to meet a three-wheel guy who wanted a jack. :P

As for the latter, sexyness comes from within and lingerie is the closest you get to within. So sexy lingerie makes em feel sexy automatically, plus gives this kick that you dnt knw what they're hiding within... and no I don't wear sexy lingerie, hence I don't feel sexy. ;)

I prefer long hair... but it's hard to dry off after a bath, and is frowned upon by family... :(

and as for lingerie, I think all women secretly dream of taking off their clothes in the middle of a meeting! lol ;) ;)

errr Chav, hon, i think you fantasize too much :P

Sabby - hmmm..

and MC - double hmmm.. But its beauty beneath the skin no.

btw, i dont think this whole innerwear phenomenon applies to guys.. strange

Chaar- lol nice play of worlds there with the 'jack' scenario. and who knows you could bea cross dresing serial lingerie wearer at work for all i know! thanks 4 the insight..

Chavie - long hair is terrible to live with isnt it. as for meetings and taking their clothes off; i have secretly wished that to happen a few times as well :D

MC - har har, a little fantasy never fails to help you thru a boring meeting!

I was going to cut my hair today. Was gonna go for a shorter cut because it's just plain easier. Looks like there are other benefits as well. :D

To provide you with a possible answer - its so that they can look at sad bastards like us and think 'ah, if you only knew what I had on under this my boy..."

I don't think sexy lingerie (i.e. little bits of silk and lace) do much in the lift and shape department - for that you need no nonsense, fugly as hell whalebone reinforced "shapewear". But the slippy things have a feel good factor that's really hard to define!

sexy inner clothing makes us feel good coz we look good in them..:D

that gives confidence..:)

This whole lingerie thingy is a MYTH or a Colonial hangover. Back then there was only Senorita, the dull white, black and off white bra in limited size. Our mothers & grandmothers wore this. Then came Triumph that said "Fashion & so much more" I worked on the Triumph launch project, learned it was basic crap camaflagued as Hi fashion. This is what branding does. Fact is undies are utility products, not a fashion item. Comfort comes first than anything else.. This so-called CONFIDENCE is a marketing gimmick that stupid women believe in... Again like i said, its Branding... Lankan women have this western craze, from their funny irritating accent, choice of clothes to perfumes to undies...Irony as it may, they imitate the west and that's what i call "Colonial hangover". Sadly though, the west has moved on, realized that lacy thingy isn't the most suitable one for daily wear, they have gone back to basic daily wear stuff... Take VS (Victoria Secrets) catalog, most stuff you find are pretty basic daily wear. Besides there is no proof sexy lingerie brings out the woman in you let alone give you confidence... Clever branding appeals to stupid women.. That's it.. Research proves a woman is "uncomfortable" wearing lacy, satin, sexay thongs than in a basic cotton bra.
I work on Lingerie branding assignments, you can count on me.. I shall reveal a few embarrassing truths based on scientific research and also from market research done across various countries, but then again I don't want to annoy the Boobs out there... They are just stupid... :-)

I suppose NB here would know.

TheWhacksteR said...

Chathuraw - yes thats why i got it as well. but as im reminded everytime i go and get it, the benefits are many :D

Sigma - holy shit.. you just may have salient point there..

Angel - hard to define eh.. hmmm.. curiouser and curiouser.

LD - hmmm. look good = feel good eh

but what of the comfort factor?

Dili - that was not the primary abjective, was gonna put up a whole new post for research purposes, but this one sems to be working ok :D

NB - I do know that 17 and 18th century corsettes and other sexy innerwear were ditched in favor of more comfortable options. I was under the impression that most modern lingerie brands tend to focus on a fine balance of both comfort and sensuality as a marketing angle.

you cud be right in that the confidence element of it is all part of the branding. i'll check out some research on this online. esp emerging trends in the west. thanks

Mc - yes, he would appear to, at that. :D whats ur opinion anyway? you think style trumps comfort?

This stupidity is not limited to Lingerie alone, its the same with female sanitary pads. Whisper has "Whisper ultra thin", a thong version of pads. Its supposed to be so thin that it doesn't show... Some stupid women think its cool to wear the ultra thin pad than a normal pad.. They realize it only when they have gone to office wearing it and some male creature spots blood stains... Too late by then :-) Similar logic applies with bras... Bras & Pads are pure utility products. When you try to become fashionable with whats otherwise a basic utility, they let you down.. Loooooose straps, blood stain and what not ???? But its interesting some women still endorse these products knowing the potential embarrassments & dangers... Such is the world of clever Lankan women :-)

Aiyo NB, But Yes i think its functionality Vs Aesthetics. So your wife wears --- --- --- Huh ?

N B said...

Aiyo Anon, Yes dude well said............ functionality Vs aesthetics... An Apple Mac is useless without its basic features... Whilst Microsoft Windows is still the most user friendly OS around, some still prefer Mac...But it has its own drawbacks..

Wife? What can i say? An average Asian bimbo just like everyone else :-) Hope she doesn't read this :-)

I think it's the fact that lingerie which does give us the desired shape and lift factor, also makes us look really good. You know, that you body curves the right way, and everything is contours into the shape of an hourglass (if one is lucky). So knowing that, it's like a little secret that no one knows. That little bit of information makes us(at least I do), feel sexy and quite confident.

Plus lace is always beautiful. Beautiful things are always a feel good factor. Add that to a female body and you get sexy confidence.

I don't know. I'm raving now. Sorry. Hope it helps.

N B said...

@ Black Rose,

Most lingerie help women claim what they don't have in reality. Padded bras for instance, flat surfaces are made to look curvy instantly. Now that's a damn good way to deceive men? :-)

Now tell me how frustrating it would be for a man to have dated a woman for years before he found out he was going out with a FAKE empty chest that never existed?

Having worked with many lingerie brands, to me this whole idea of fashionable lingerie is nothing more than a deception.

I giggle everytime i see a fair & lovely, triumph , Whisper or even Janet herbal cosmetic Ad.... A woman with substance wouldn't buy them.....

TheWhacksteR said...

Well thats the fashion industry isn't it? even women with 'substance' are fashion conscious in some respect. so are men. or you wouldnt realy buy that lacoste cologne. may as well use no deoderant if ur a 'man of substance' cos thats trying to fake something that we dont have; i.e. smell. right?

As for lingerie, hmmm i think im beginning to see the light a wee bit. 'shape' huh. yes i can see where that helps. Thanks black rose. but then again would you compromise on comfort for style? or are they really as uncomfortable as some say? :D

Whacky & NB,

Considering both of you love passionately discussing ladies undies, may we know kindly your brand of MALE undies please?

Delilah said...

lingerie heightens your awareness of the sensuality you possess.the lifting, shaping and contouring adds to the overall effect. but if all this is done by beautiful, lacy, silky scraps of material so much the better :) And yeah all this can be achieved without compromising on comfort. who needs granny panties for comfort when you have stretchy satin boxers?

Anonymous said...

Well said Delilah...! As usual NB is being an over bearing prat. He sadly thinks himself an expert on anything and everything under the sun... and on some things in places where the sun doesn't shine too! ;)

N B said...

@ Without Undies,

:-) I think brand is "Amudey Veddah Classics" if you know what i mean...... :-)

@ Anon,
Please I love to see your face Anon :-) for the record, i never claimed to be an expert on anything.. just leaving my comments when i see blog posts i can relate to in some ways... Too bad you don't like it :-) I think you should look at possitively than making myslef an expert. But overall its an honour indeed :-)

PseudoRandom said...

Short hair FTW indeed :D Long hair on guys tends to look unkept and not very masculine IMO.

As for the lingerie, I think Delilah said it best. Yeah maybe it is uncomfortable compared to the 'daily wear cotton' stuff, but I think that's partly 'cos it pushes everything into place and keeps it there. When everything's in place, it feels good. So the mild discomfort (if there is any) is a small price to pay. As for why wearing it to work gives us a kick, it's a personal treat no? Sexy lingerie is associated with 'special occasions', and wearing it for something as mundane as 'going to work' brightens up the day a bit, I reckon.

Jerry said...

Wouldn't it be like installing a new turbo unit and EFI system in your car and feeling all good about it?

Maybe if they had the option, women would put on tattoos bearing the brand names of the lingerie they wear?

:D

I'm kidding, in case somebody who'd do things like take years of dating to find out whether a woman is wearing a push up bra is going to quote me.

Why don't we All just DROP the Topic! ;)

TheWhacksteR said...

yes thank you all for the support! we scored high, i think. especially used a lot of my own personal research data (wink, thats you guys!) in telling them what 'a woman exactly looks for'. as for my taste, i cant speak for NB but i go for the generic variety, the kind that comes in packs of three for a hundred bucks :D

Nadia said...

NB: is your stupidity cultivated or genetic?

Whichever it is, let me clarify few points for you:

a) Silk and lace feels much better against the skin than cotton. That's why we prefer lace and satin Triumph bras to Senoritas.

Try a satin amudey next time and feel the difference.

b) Women prefer Whisper ultra thins to the thicker ones because they can move about with comfort without feeling that they have a giant pillow stuck between their thighs.

Pity the people who got you to work on brands without you having any semblance of a consumer insight, or even practical usage feedback.

A woman of substance knows the difference between sanitary wear and lingerie which does something useful for her, and gimmicky make up and creams that have no basis.

Pity you don't.
